Postal Department recruitment 2014 – Exam Pattern, Syllabus

New Delhi, Mar 10 (TruthDive): Postal Department, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has issued Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant Recruitment notification for 2014 for 8243 posts.

Exam Pattern 2014
Paper I -Aptitude Test
 This includes four parts such as part A, part B, Part C and part D will be held for 100 marks.
There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.
Candidates will be provided a duration of 2 hours for Aptitude Test.
Part A- will be related to General Knowledge such as sports, history, geography, current affairs, basic economics, Indian Constitution, general politics, Science, environment etc.
Part B – will contain Mathematics of matriculation standard which may include number system, simplification, corrections, decimals, simple and compound interest, profit and loss, percentage, average, discount, menstruation, Time & work and time & distance etc.
Part C- Questions will be based on English grammar such as adverbs, antonyms/synonyms, prepositions, conjunction, singular & plural, tenses, direct/indirect speech etc.
Part D – will include questions on Reasoning and Analytical Ability.
Paper II- Computer/ Typing Test
Candidates will be provided a duration of 30 minutes for this test.
For Typing- 15 minutes
For data entry- 15 minutes
Candidates will have to type 450 words in English OR 375 words in Hindi with a speed of 25 – 30 words per minute in a computer keyboard.
Note: Candidates will be selected based on the speed and correctness.
It is a combined test in which marks will be added together in both the components for qualifying.
Candidates belonging to various categories with 10+2 or 12th   class pass from a recognized university or Board of School  Education  or  Board  of  Secondary  Education  with  English  as  a compulsory subject are eligible to  appear in Aptitude Test.
Weightage will not be given for  marks obtained by the candidates in 10+2 or 12th class while preparing the Merit List.
