KOLHAPUR: The postal department's 'My Stamp' initiative received a
moderate response in Kolhapur on Tuesday with only 20 people showing
interest in creating personalized stamps.
Superintendent of post office P D Patil unveiled the initiative at the head post office at Kasba Bawda road.
As part of the two-day initiative, people can visit and print their own stamps. Patil said the stamp lovers will get a chance of getting their pictures imprinted on five different types of sheets available at the department
There are postal stamps of famous people, national leaders and subjects and objects of common interest. However, the department started the 'My Stamp' initiative from last year under which a set of 12 stamps is made available to a person. The department charges Rs 300 per set of stamps that are fixed in a template.
"We publish a customer's image or logo along side the selected commemorative postage stamp. The service is available on special occasions across the country," said a postal official.
Last year, the first time the initiative was launched in Kolhapur during the same period, it had received over 100 customers in a few days. "We are hoping for the same response this year too. The 'My Stamp' initiative will be open in Sangli on March 13 and 14," said an official.
Commemorative stamps of four types- cineraria, dahlia, lily and pansy- are available in Kolhapur.
Customers who visited the post office on the first day created their stamps for marriage ceremonies and birthdays, said officials. "We have cameras to take pictures in the post office and also have a facility for people coming with photos placed in memory sticks," said an official.
